I watch it to see how consistent from fill up to fill up it is. For mine it’s ~ 75 mi to the F line, another ~75 to 3/4, 100 to 1/2, 100 to 1/4, and 75 to the light which comes on with 3-4 gallons still in the tank depending on any slope in the road(downhill triggers it sooner). It definitely slows across the middle of the display. Not having continuous mpg display I monitor fuel level and trip mileage to note anything dramatic and do a mileage calc as I leave the pump each time. The first chunk down to F has the most variation since it depends on the pump shut off which can vary by a quart easily but that’s still only 5-6 miles. Basically 75, 150, 250, 350, 425 is the middle of the range I’m looking at but it’s been higher and lower.

The only viable (IMO) solution is to get a perfectly square or rectangular gasoline tank, and calibrate the sending unit to it. Then the level drop will be linear from full to empty.

Or just learn to live with it like every other vehicle user has.

You haven’t said but the picture looks like a 2nd gen. On 2nd gens dash comes apart very easy. Open it up and move the needle.

    I'm lazy.
If I not going to fix the "actual problem", I'm not fixing any of the problems.
I'd just call 1/4 tank empty and save myself time and trouble.

I've never known resistance to get better over time.
OP will likely be in the same situation a few years from now.

Test the resistances first, is my vote.

Little different problem here, I’m LS swapped but my gauge reads 1/4 tank and the truck just died. Maybe I need to check resistance too.
