Went for a walk this afternoon. Turned out to be pretty nice day - windy as heck but warm. Went on another of the walking trails in town. This one winds through some of the old mine yards.
The Mountain Con - one of the largest mines on the hill

This area is still being mined - mostly going through the old tailings at this point. Technology today always for the company to extract more from the tailings that wasn't possible 50+ years ago
    IMG_2333.jpg
    IMG_2334.jpg
And the Granite Mountain Memorial. 168 died in a fire - still the largest single loss of life in the world of underground mining. The flags on the walls represent the nationalities of the miners that died in the cave in/fire.

Poured rain all day.... The porch project is under way, but will post most of it in the tractor thread when it's farther along.

Let's just say that we had no idea what was under that porch. Figured about 3blocks high of pea gravel. Let's just say that 12 blocks deep we still hadn't hit the bottom!

Spent about 9hrs running a Vac hose on a super sucker Vac Truck. Been about 25 years since I been on the end of one of those. I'm beat.

    Beautiful scenery. :jellydance:

    :( RIP

 evening gang Went out to cut my back yard this evening... saw a huge branch hanging down in one of my trees  (thicker part was hanging down with the smaller branches caught up in other branches) it was dead and I pulled it the rest of the way down.... Didn't want it falling on me. It was WINDY out, with lots of gusts (we had a wind advisory so it must have been very gusty) I stayed out for a while pulling weeds and just watched the trees.... It's amazing how well they can withstand wind like that.

Well for the first time is 6+ years I was able to do one of the things that I love the most. My vision has improved so much that I was able to sight in my new Hatsan 25 cal air rifle (top) and the new scope on my CZ 223.(bottom) It was an incredible blessing.
