Hello! I want to get a soft topper and add a bed rack for a roof top tent. I’m curious if adding a bed rack will affect the watertight seal and what I can do to avoid water going into my truck bed while it rains.

Wanting to get a setup like this but am not sure if where the bed rack attaches will effect the watertight seal.

I basically have the same setup with a besttop and BAMF RTT rack. Sure water leaks in occasionally. It won’t be waterproof completely. I deal with the occasional drops as I don’t want to spray seam sealer in the cracks to completely waterproof it. I haven’t found a better way to waterproof my setup completely since it doesn’t live on my truck 24/7.

Appreciate the feedback. I hadn’t thought of Seam sealer. Do you think if I’m planning on the topper being permanent seam sealer would be a good option? Ideally I want to build a platform with drawers and bed so I’d like to keep out as much water as possible.

Put a cheap tarp over the soft shell when it rains if you are camping, that's what I do.

the rail uses a foam gasket. Softopper sells seam sealer. So does elsewhere. There is other places water can enter from besides the bed rails.

    decked is waterproof.

I haven’t waterproofed my setup yet but am not worried about it. Plywood is cheap. Storage underneath is enclosed plastic totes.

if there’s a concern about bed bars it’s how to make them actually useful for mounting gear and not an RTT.

There’s many racks out there. That heavy metal offroad rack doesn’t look like it does anything besides hold an RTT.
