Hello TW peeps. Looking for recommendations for a dashcam for my 3GT. As this is intended for liability protection while ride sharing, I'm far more interested in its ability to record what is going on inside the truck than outside. Bonus if it can be powered using something like the dongle for the rear-view mirror connector, so it doesn't require routing wiring across the headliner and down the A pillar, or connection via the 12v accessory plug, which is frequently being using to charge riders' phones. Let me see what ya got! Thanks!

I've been using Rexing V3 Plus BBY in two vehicles in my family, one of them for 3.5 years, the other for 1 year. Both have been 100% reliable: https://www.ebay.com/itm/364583949550

It uses a USB mini plug, so you should be able to power it using a mirror wire USB adapter cable. Neither of our vehicles have autodimming mirror, so I just run the 12V plug down to the center console.

Thanks! I'll have a look at this one.

NextBase GW522. Records forward-only at a very impressive 4K, both front and back at 2K each. Back facing cameras for both in-car and past-rear-window options that plug into a side port. BestBuy lists them but not always in-store at the time ... order to store I guess. May overwhelm the rearview-mirror dongle, but then just plug into dash power.

This is the front-only at 4K ... imagine if only at 1/2 resolution for split-view ...

I actually have a Vantrue dashcam running on my other car. It's very similar to the Rexing V3 and adequate for my occasional drives in that car. The inside facing camera is definitely a solid option for rideshare type situation...and it comes equipped with night-vision mode as well. Also, since you mentioned connectivity...it's powered via USB so no issues firing it up via the rearview mirror dongle mentioned. Check this out...

...though I think a newer version might be available?

Dash cam companies send me their cameras for testing/review

Since you're interested in interior views for rideshare, consider a 4 channel camera like Vantrue's Nexus 5

I have one in my daily beater (along with a bunch of others for testing)

Here's a video of me getting rear ended by some lady in a Tahoe

And here's a video from last week when I noticed a car weaving in and out of traffic

Turns out the guy was totally wasted

Managed to corner him in a parking lot and took his keys cause there was no way I was gunna let him back on the road in his condition

Wow....the Nexus 5 might just be the one for rideshare! That's a lot of coverage.
