Amazon Bed Stiffeners

Hey all, I've read through a decent portion of the forums discussing the Rago bed stiffeners and alternatives. I don't have the resources to do DIY stiffeners, and the Rago ones are pretty expensive... That said,

these Amazon stiffeners seem solid, but apparently fit 05-23's only...

For half the price, I feel like they may be worth trying. Thoughts?

Yeah, they're not first gen - 05-23 only... I feel like with some trimming they could fit, but I really don't know (which is why I am asking)

Thinking these designed bc Toyota made inner bed panels out of plastic (not steel to save weight)…..thus brackets provide support to plastic

You could modify NP to fit 1st gen bed
might be some work but nothing incredibly difficult

why do you need the extra strength?

 

The main reason why I stopped making my bed stiffeners are due to these very sets available on Amazon.

They're really cheap and hard to compete against which is why I have now suggested to others going the Amazon route.

With that said, the sets I've sold were for 1st Gen Tacoma's, but with the help of @Ricardo13x he confirmed they fit 2nd and 3rd Gen Tacomas.

So it's safe to say if my 1st Gen sets worked on 2nd and 3rd Gen, these should work on a 1st Gen as well.






It's a super cheap gamble, why not order some?

Here my sets are on two different 2nd Gen, and even a 3rd Gen; my old thread has several mounted in a 1st Gen -







The only thing I don't like about those bed stiffeners on Amazon is that they are not reinforced/welded on the bottom. This would make them more prone to any buckling or bowing.

 

My thoughts too. Probably some modification for sure. I have a rack and a RTT I will be adding that extend over my Softopper which will probably cause the sides of my bed to potentially bow out under stress off road. Hoping to stabilize that.

If I needed the same support
I would modify to MAKE those fit.

I even looked at my bed(96)
Straight 90 degree angle….no obstructions to drill in brackets
Might be easier than anticipated

 

Yeah, I saw you mentioned them on the lunch table thread! Thanks for coming in here. You make a good point.. Really is a cheap gamble.

The Rago ones are also not welded on the corner either... I really like yours. You still selling em?

Can’t find any install write up even for the Ragos, looks like we have one factory bolt and then just drill the other 3?
