South Haven in mississippi/memphis TN area was were the tunes were done before i ended up finding a guy in middle tennessee that had the time to do it right.. i'd rather not mention the guys name bc I don't rememver it off the top of my head.. he may have had alot going on in life supposedly had some family effected by covid.. I'm overall very happy with the actual tunes I've had from both KDmaxx and OTT tunes and as a matter of fact im deleting that post bc in reading it comes across worse than i intended it coming across.. My point was meant to be that in my own experience you can basically flip a coin between the tunes in my experience and they're both WAY better than stock.. you may be the last that tuned my truck i had the system and dual battery setup with 8112s front and back oversized 33.5" tires

I don’t see any replies from the KDMAX customers wanting to try OTT. Was it better, worse or pretty much the same? I am also on the latest KDMAX tune and use VF Tuner.

I too have VF tuner, installed KDMax in my truck am interested in trying OTT. I have $750 invested in KDMax and the cable, etc. I'm can't seem to bring myself to spend a non-refundable $400 on OTT to see the difference. In OTT's defense, I don't figure there is a way to allow self tuners to try it with a money back guarantee.

Is there anything in specific you’re not happy about with kdmax? I have had both of the latest revisions and will say OTT was far better.

What tune do you have? My truck is a '23 TRD OR on 5100's and 265/70r17 Toyo AT3's. I'll PM you.

It's just that I'm not as blown away with it as some folks are. KDMax does make my truck shift more naturally IMO and gear hunting is not an issue any more. If OTT really provides a substantial more low end torque then I think it might be worth it to me.

In your opinion, what makes OTT far better?

I had kdmax 9 and 10, it was ok, It was better than stock no doubt but it still felt off to me. I decided to spend $400 and switch to OTT. The best way I can describe KDmax was that it’s like a pedal commander. I didn’t realize it until I switched away from it. But all it really felt like was increased throttle sensitivity. It would hold gears longer all the time, sometimes it would never upshift even when cruising through town, which was beneficial for helping gear hunting but meant the truck was screaming frequently. Now I was on 35’s and stock gearing so i was asking a lot. As soon as I switched to OTT it was very clear how much smoother the shifting was, it would hold gears but upshift as I feel it should and actually use the higher gears while still having power to “pull” in them. I actually could use 6th on the highway where Kdmax never got there for me, it was 80% 4th and 20% 5th gear. Another benefit was that they program the ECT button similar to how a tow haul button works in most other trucks. KDmax programs it to their sport tune which is just a crazy amount of throttle sensitivity and I much prefer the tow haul programming that OTT used. Overall I was happy I spent the extra $400 to switch. Now I can’t say everyone would be, but I certainly was.

I’m on the KDMAX PRO 10 and don’t have any issues like the member above. I cruise around town with no rev hangs. And my favorite of them all is when reaching the crest of a road/highway because as soon as it is nearing the top of a crest, it will change into 6th gear and hold. I absolutely love it.

I'm on KDMAX 10 too, and mine is the same- holds the right gear up hills, no longer unnecessarily upshifting, only to downshift,,,, only to attempt the same over and over.

I also enjoy how once in 6th and not quite over the crest, from there on out it will hold with pedal input up to the threshold of a downshift. I haven’t checked with Fusion as to pedal input before the downshift, But Big Papa has that all figured out for us in the coolest of ways.

Also, either in Normal or Sport +, it’s fun to be first in line at a stop light. Minimal input will get these 3rd Gen’s moving quite quickly to the point where it makes me think it will be such a strong puller with the kinetic ARB strap when the need arises. Thankfully TRAC hasn’t given me the chance…yet.

I thoroughly in the most sincere and honest way I can say, enjoy his Powerglide Tune:hattip:

Well since KDMAX has been acquired by YotaWerx let talk about their offerings. The latest release of BH 2.0 came out in February and further refinement's are soon to be released.

Here are the Dyno reports from those test. These were performed on a hub Dyno removing tire size variable. The main thing on YotaWerx is pushing max torque down in the lower RPM. Range where needed.

Where KDMAX did an excellent job of developing a balance tune where you had great HP, Low and Mid Range power-band. YotaWerx further pushes max Torque to 3120 RPM, stock peaks at 4800.

This is real torque that can be felt and Dyno proven.

Gotta chime in with kudos for kdmax. I bought my truck in Jan 21 and was seriously contemplating selling it by March after a horrendous day trip driving into a 20mph headwind. The 1st kdmax tune was a serious improvement as has each new release. I was lucky to get in early when you could buy an individual vf tuner license.

And, “Big Papa’s” customer service has been second to none. He’s done several custom tunes for me and I’m currently on a custom version of 10. Great tune and maybe my last unlesss I hear of significant improvements to cruise control.
