Looking at buying a non running 95.5 Tacoma from a friend. He says it’s a 95.5 2.7 and they put a 98 2.7 engine in it from a 4 runner. They think it’s an issue with the ignition where the 95.5 was distributor and the 98 was dual coils. He says it needs a computer but he’s not sure. Has anybody done this swap? What parts would it need?

98 and on the engine has a cam sensor.....

so your gonna have to have a 98/99 engine harness and ecm to match...

if its an auto tranny its no big deal.......ecm's for those go for $70 ~ $80......

If its manual/standard........thats an entirely different animal....

used ones for those start at about $1200.......just a few of those in the whole country.....
