Hello all. I purchased a bumper from a California fabrication company. It’s finally time for my bumper to ship, and I have received a freight invoice of $455 for shipping on top of the cost of the bumper. Is this a typical shipping cost? The bumper weighs about 120lb and is shipping form the Bay Area to Seattle.

^I find the shipping cost can vary substantially from one carrier to the next, and vary month to month depending on fuel prices.

The bumper may be just over a certain length that rules out a couple of cheaper carriers.

The fabricator may have had bad experiences with a couple of carriers (damaged or lost shipments).

You can get quotes from a few freight carriers yourself. If you find a substantially lower price, ask the fabricator to use that carrier.

That’s a lot…i had to pay $350 for my bumper to ship though so maybe its just a Cali “tax”
