What are the different coolants used for Toyotas?

    Hello

    I have a question about coolent. I see people take about it but I dont understand if it the chemical or brand name or slang that there using to explain what there using. I just bought a truck and it's red. But don't know what it called or what it suppose to look like.

    basically, keep to whatever the vehicle came with, because it came with that type for a reason to minimize the risk of corrosion within the system.

    GM's early dexcool was an infamous example of this. when they introduced aluminum blocks in the 90's with cast iron heads, the coolant needed to be gm's specific formulation to prevent galvanic corrosion within the system. many people just simply switched to the typical green coolant anyways because it was more prevalent. the circulating fluid ate the engine from the inside out, turning the fluid black, and plugged passageways, and/or blew through parts of the block, all of which rendered the motor scrap.

    OAT is a technology. good to know. HOAT is derived srome
    I thought most blocks were cast iron with aluminum heads or is it steel and aluminum? I don't know much about chevy ether so I don't want to really go into that. But are aluminum blocks have less life? I'm walking into this one I think. So I will keep it at coolent and ask.

    Thats on a thought I have. I just don't know that it is. I guess in reality I should use something with toyota and red But would like to know more. I will read the link. Thanks just sometimes I don't want to read I appreciate both your help. I think others people will find the link and help them too.
