So, this all started last year after I repeatedly smashed my LCA cam tabs. I drive a 2013 AC with an Icon Stage 5 lift on 33s. While trying to get re-aligned, I also realized that the passenger side LCA bolts are seized. This is where the fun begins. I've been looking for a permanent solution, and I think I finally settled on a plan. I had been tossing around the idea of the JD Fab lower pivot kit, but I'm pretty sure I've ruled it out.

    • BTF LCAs- I'd like to go to 35s down the road, and also completely stop the current rubbing. No CMC or CMR as of yet, I've been trying to avoid it.
    • KPO Offroad Cam Tab Gusset Kit
    • Marlin Crawler LCA Frame Brace- from what I've found I should be able to make this work with the KPO kit.
    • WarFab/Dialed Designs Tie Rod Sleeves
    • Durobumps Bump Stops
    • Spindle gussets

I just want to know if there's anything else I should take care of while I'm going to the trouble of tearing apart the front suspension. Unfortunately I will be paying a shop- I can't weld- and replacing the LCAs myself before having the gusset kit and LCA frame brace kit welded on doesn't seem like the best idea to me. Anyways, I appreciate any and all feedback, thanks.

If part of your goal is to avoid rubbing, and you're going to be welding on various gusset kits and frame braces, then I'd also do the CMC/CMR and "finesse" your pinch weld as needed because avoiding it at this point seems kinda silly. CMC/pinch are like step one for clearancing, why avoid it?

This is basically what I just did a few weeks ago, minus the MC LCA brace, plus a CMC, pinch weld smash, and octagonal alignment stop cams. Putting 35's on in the next couple weeks along with new wheels and brakes.

Like @wi_taco says do the CMC/pinch weld at the same time, and get some aftermarket alignment cams. https://bisonoffroad.com/product/toyota-tacoma-16-22-4runner-2010-2023-stop-cam-kit/

I've been trying to avoid doing it while only running 33s. I know it's part of the deal when I eventually go to 35s.

If you get a good CMC done it's hardly noticeable

Reconsider the JDFab lower control arm mount pivot kit. It is the foundation, and it is the best solution. If you have already been smashing the stock stuff putting gussets on the stock junk is not going to help. Not only are the brackets of a thicker material they also are much larger and engage a much larger section of the frame. I am running 258/75/17 KO's with no cab mount chop and still have room to move lower control arm forward, I am also running the stock length uppers with the .25 caster. When I go the 2.25" longer arms and a 35x11.5x17 KO3 when it is released I still will not have to do a CMC. Do it the best way the first time. As is said "pay once cry once"

Oh man, starting to roll around all the options all over again. Honestly, the JDFab pivot kit would be the best long term solution, but I was getting gun shy due to the expense- quite a bit more labor for the install, plus still needing to replace my LCAs.

Getting there, but still a long ways to go, even if I subtract the coilovers

    Standard installation of RCLT HD:
    $286.79 (reman. MarRack) + $750 (Inner Axle Shafts) + $1,679.95 (Icon Coil overs) = $2,716.74
$6,999 (introductory price) RCLT HD + $2,716.74 needed parts = $9,715.74 total DIY install

truths, I didn’t think about going from standard width to LT.. I forget those BTF lowers are stock length but pushed an inch forward correct?

Debadged, decals removed ARE V series Camper Shell, RallyArmor mud flaps I’m old, my truck is boring
Firestone bent my cam tabs on three frames… I did the total chaos tabs on the first truck after Toyota replaced my frame, but I did the MC gussets on the second truck. I’d highly recommend the Marlin Crawler kit if you have a skilled person to weld it. Check out what the Long Travel guys are doing to their trucks and learn from the guys who punish the Tacomas.

I should just read closer, my apologies.. BTF like you said, gives you the replaced lower and accomplished tire push forward.

Question, hopefully not dumb does JD pivot result in a loss of ground clearance??

No, You actually gain clearance. The center nub/jack point gets trimmed. With my 285/75/17 I have 13 5/8" under the skid plate. 10.25+3.375=13.625" 20240414_125055.jpg

Super slick! My LCA camber bolts are also ceased looking to do a swap myself. Already purchased the KP Offroad bolts and octagonal cams.
