Hope you are OK. Sorry about your truck. Did it crack the composite bed?

And just to beat the PDR crowd to the punch, the beside and gate are not candidates for PDR.

You must not read many collision repair/accident damage threads on TW. Or maybe you're one of the people I'm referring to. :goingcrazy:

Sorry to see that. I hope the other driver has insurance. I’m sure they were looking at phone instead of your tailgate.

At least in the photos posted it doesn't look like it bent the frame parts, as bad as the bodywork damage is that also means it probably was absorbing the force of the impact instead of bending the bumper supports and frame like often happens with rear end hits. I'd check out the composite bed for any cracks as well

I'm ok, thank you, but almost wasn't. I was on the highway, on a long, traffic stopped, exit lane. She merged into the exit lane at speed (I assume about 50-60), but didn't realize there were cars stopped in it, and ran right into my driver side rear end at an angle. The impact turned me to the left and shoved me back into the highways right lane, I had to call upon my ninja, involuntary reflex and turned the wheel and gassed it a little to get back into the exit lane just as a big, loud semi went by and missed me by what felt like inches. That was scary.

I haven't checked the bed because I can't open the tailgate, but it moved forward and left marks on the cab. The frame looks iffy. I hope they don't total this one because of it. That's two tacos in 3 years. If they total it, I pray that I can still find a 23 somewhere. I really don't want a 24.

That is what her car looked like:

Hopefully the frame isn't buckled or collapsed anywhere. As long as that didn't happen, any frame issues would be repairable. I would expect that there was at least some movement in the frame, most likely either "diamond" or "sway," but neither of those is a big deal to correct.

    Glad you are both ok.

I suppose it's possible. She merged into a lane with stopped traffic at highway speed. I didn't even hear the brakes.

I am hoping that is the case. My last taco (a 21) took a Hyundai up the rear end at a lower speed (40-45), the hitch bent downwards and took the frame with it. I really don't feel like going through the process of finding a new taco that isn't a 24.
