Have been working on this Rago engine bay lighting for a while. Started with the bracket from Rago through Tacoma Lifestyle. I had purchased some rock lights from Amazon that I thought would be fine for this application but found that they didn’t fit without some reworking the bracket. It was designed to use Baja Design rock lights, so I bit the bullet and ordered four. I wired up the bracket and got ready to install.

The bracket uses rivnuts to attach it to the hood. Problem came trying to install the rivnuts. The provided rivnuts were standard and the hardware provided was metric so they didn’t work together. Off to the hardware store the first time of many. I tried to use the techniques from YouTube to install the rivnuts. I could not get them to work with the angle that the hood is at when open. Removing the hood was a no go, so again I bit the bullet and got the proper tool. Once mastered off the truck I moved to the hood and had them installed in no time. Moral:get the right tool for the job.

Today I wired everything up and it works great. Cleaned up and put away all the hardware I purchased to do the YouTube rivnut installs. Half filled a screw box. All and all it cost me about $420 including the rivnut tool and all the hardware I used.

A satisfying mod and the light that it puts out is bright. Pulled over at night, I think you could do most fixes in the engine bay without a flashlight. That’s why I got it.

Wow! That is a great job. Looks so w professional. Wiring is protected and run very neatly. Total cost a little high for me but your workmanship made it look like $1000. Good job
