Toyota can't win w/ people on here LOL. It's either people complaining there's no low end tq on these trucks or when there is, there's not enough power to sustain 100 mph on the highway. No wonder engineers ignore consumer requests.

Hard to have it both without a v8, but absent that I think 99% of customers would prefer more low end torque than the ability to continue pulling above triple digits lol.

absolutely but then they’d bitch that it doesn’t get 25 mpg. The new mpg numbers already aren’t good enough.
I’d much rather have low end though. My Porsche sucks on the street bc there’s nothing down low. It screams above 5k, but that’s useless to me anywhere other than on track.

Where do you need to drive above 80 mph?

Hypothetical negative to the smaller displacement turbo engine, if you read my later responses I said that hardly anybody would value that over the far superior low end torque that the new drivetrain provides.

If I remember correctly, there are like 7 or 8 states within the US with interstate speed limits of 80-85 mph. While thats a minority of people, I suppose it answers your question.

Well those 80 and above drivers shouldn't complain about gas milage thats for sure..lol. this is a truck, not even a compact sports car. High speed driving pull is not their designed purpose.

just a chase for market share or is it like a few power people in the design world get pimped around to various manufacturers??

I think more the first one, but you can definitely see the influence of the second one. Like how a few Fords copied the Aston Martin grille shortly after their merger (apparently the same guy designed both).

Design convergence based on regulation, efficiency requirements, and a desire for cohesive corporate design language. Mazda has done the last one particularly well

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
I also thought the side profile of the 6th gen 4Runner quite resembles the Honda Pilot

It's due to the shape of the rear side door's window

The last time someone thought out of the box on exterior vehicle design, we got the cyber truck and everyone hates on that too. So do we want creativity or do we want conformity.
