you got me on my quote there....but it only drops when i go to pass some one or when the cruise control acclerates for hills and such.

i said i wasnt sure on how the scangauge works ( i even said i was probably wrong in my previous post), and i checked with my gps today and its only off my about 1mph maybe 2mph (with my new tires) and a gps can be off by that much as well just so you know. i calibrated the scangauge via the manual when i got it i dont think theres much else i can do...i still get about 28-30mpg going about 8 mph slower with my new tires as seen here:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/89977-my-truck-new-shoes.html

i mean do you need a video or something? i feel like your having a hard time accepting this?

I was under the impression you still had the 215's
Well something doesn't add up, and I'm not doing the math. So you go on telling people that you get 30 mpg, and I'll go on calling BS. Look, I know what these trucks get, I had a 4cyl 4X4 with skinny street tires, and in order to get 30 mpg, I would have to drive around 50 mph.
    So we agree to disagree.
Besides, this thread isn't about who can post the highest mileage number, its about not having the option to buy an auto, on a 4cyl 4X4....

i understand where you coming from but i am getting about 27-30 mpg cruising on the highway with my new tires going about 50 mph according to the gps (remeber no more 215's). so i will leave it at that and if i remeber next time i am out i will snap a pic or something for you :)

50 mph is not highway speed, if you drive that speed on a highway, and avoid getting ran off the road, then 27 mpg may be possible.
    I'm done....

yes i agree 50mph is not a real good highway speed but the speed limit in my neck of the woods is 55mph around here. 60mph is a good highway speed its a right lane cruising speed and with my old tires i could get 30mpg doing 60mph via gps which was only 5mph off the truck speedo sooo you are right i wasnt 100 percent getting 30mpg i relize this now... but it got probably around 26-28. But with a fixed speedo and new larger tires i can get 30mpg doing 50mph which as i said before is a highway speed around me. I am also done. in a way i see now i believe we were both right in a way. You were right in the way that the scangauge was calibrating mpg wrong, and i am clearly getting 30mpg as i see every time i get on the highway and and drive to save $.

All depends on the gearing!....the auto gets better mpg due to the gearing and know it is not slow....stop with the testosterone matra.

i have a 2000 2.7 auto ext cab 4x4 and just changed spark plugs, k&n air filter, 5.5quarts of mobile 1 10W30 oil + V8 RESTORE. my 4banger is responsive and fast. pulling a trailer with a hyundai sonata is easy up hill and on the highway is easy. auto 2.7 is easily talked down, unless you own one.

Just picked mine up today! After having 2 of these trucks (5-speed 4x4 reg cab), the auto is a nice change, and I love the interior with the buckets!

I'd love to see a reg cab V6, especially one with TRD package.

They finally realized that it makes the company look bad when they make vagina trucks. Manual trans ftw.

Thanks, I love it so far! I was SO on the fence when I was ordering it, but ultimately decided to go with the auto because I really wanted the buckets, and I want to be able to install a remote starter without having to go through the presetting ritual of the manual trans auto starters.

    Loved my 5-speeds as well!
