    I JB Welded my striped drain plug was the same small dripping, it lasted for awhile but was always bugging me, I took my truck in for a repair and told the dude to look at that drain, came to pickup the truck and it was all fixed looked to me they retapped it and used a bigger plug

    Yea just suck the old fluid out and refill from the check hole

    Someday i'll have the time, space and tools to learn welding...it'll be a few years. Thanks for the suggestion though.

    when I got mine repaired in a shop the cost was minimal probably less than $100, I was glad to pay someone else that knew what to do with it. cause I didn't have the time,patience and equipment necessary so I let a shop do it, was very happy with the results for what I paid., usually frame and axle type shops are very familiar repairing striped drain plugs.

    M18 x 1.5 plug came today. This will be backup in case I need to tap the drain plug hole one size up to M18.

    Reviving…Did you ever fix it OP? I currently have the same problem. Wasn’t leaking at all and had a shop just silicone it. Would like a more permanent fix though and to assess metal shavings too. Right now I just pump out through fill port.
