Hey and thanks for any help/ info. I recently upgraded the sound system( or at least tried to) on my 3rd get red sport with JBL. I installed an alpine ILX-507 from Trail grid pro, and upgraded the rear speakers to the kickers. It yesterday I installed the kickers in the frond doors and noticed that only the low’s were coming out. I know that with the original head unit, the front door speakers could only do lows, but I thought with a new head unit I’d be able to get the full range. Apparently I was wrong. Is it possible to get the full range of sound from the front door speakers? Is it the amp in the JBL system that’s cutting out the high’s? What would I need to do to get the frond door speakers to get its full range?

The JBL amp behind the back seat is doing all the work. It sends highs to the tweeters in the dash, mids to the doors, and bass to the subwoofer.

You dont typically want highs coming from your doors when they're so low in the door panel. then you're getting highs from your feet AND the dash. That's peoples biggest complaint when they upgrade the non-jbl system with coaxials in the doors. They say the highs are too harsh now and the sound is more muddy because it's coming from multiple directions

Oh, I wish I would have know that earlier. Thanks for you info, I kept seeing the kicker 6x9 listed as the ones to get.

for people going cheap and easy, thats what they tend to do.

I hate to do this but I'll rip the bandaid off

For the JBL system, you either leave it alone or gut it completely. There are no good cost-effective upgrades than can be made that don't have pretty big tradeoffs.

I changed the head unit and like it. I do feel like it helps with the audio and the rear speakers sounded better. Maybe that was in my head, it wasn’t u till the door speakers that I felt disappointed with the change in the sound. I read so many threads saying the speakers upgrade did help I just jumped in. Thanks for the help and info, hopefully it’ll help the next guys trying to upgrade the system before they get to far in.
