I was watching a YouTube video and liked these sliders. I tried asking on there but never got a reply. I like how low profile they are and the side tube isn’t huge. If no one recognizes them then I’m open to suggestions of similar ones.

    Thanks!

I was going to order the 4WP sliders when that crazy deal was going on but I didn’t want them bad enough to pay shipping. Unfortunately we don’t have a 4WP near me otherwise I would have picked up in store.

So far I like the Cali Raised Trail Edition the best although if there are any smaller fabricators that have something similar I’d also consider them.

Nice, I’ve never seen those sliders but those Pak Rax actually look really good. Looks like they have a lot of other nice things too.

I need to order them first! LoL

Honestly they look like great sliders, I think they are the ones I’m going to end up with. I had some really petite ones on both my Jeeps and loved them. Never got body damage either. I’ll definitely use sliders on my Taco decently hard too. I can see the snow capped Owyhees from my house and I’m dying to explore them when it clears. My old Jeeps were sweet but the Taco does pretty good and I actually enjoy “wheeling” it.

A few pics because why not…

    Man…
If anyone wants to know what that 85 Yota looked like when my friend first got it…

That thing would be a holy grail now. It’s an 85 extra cab with the factory 22RE and solid axle.

Most people dont need that level of hardcore armor and if you did youd be getting into other trouble anyway. Its just something thats insurance for the rocker panel that wont cave like a nerf bar

Yeah i was pretty big on low profile sliders as i dont like the look of sliders in general. I went with TJM tacoma sliders that are bolt on. I do a regular treatment between the slider and the frame though as rocks and sediment gets in between the slider and frame but that applies to any slider in that case

    I’ve hit on 31”, 33”, and 35”.

slider is not hardcore. Exoskeleton cage, atlas, trailering, SAS, LT, portals, Ute bed tray canopy, rear links, adj Fox 2.5, etc is hardcore.

but yeah you right let me sell my RCI sliders I got like $300 used that has
    -20deg
    -kickout
    -standing surface
-sticks out enough to keep things away from body

so I can get one without that for $1k that weighs the exact same with no benefits

    I t
I think you’re missing the point, like the OP says he wants low pro sliders like quite a few people like to look for their own tacoma. Nobody said you had to get sliders that suck for your usage application but for a truck like this i personally dont like helicopter skids that jut out 15 feet from the sides.

plus if i was gonna go rock crawling id do it in a dana 44’d Jeep or an 80 series. Hardcore stuff gets too hairy in an ifs truck

want a daily driver that can drive to and do black bear pass and not break down? Toyota

the RCI doesnt stick out 15’ like a helicopter skid.
In fact people driving crazy seem to not notice it’s there until I point at it from the window help guide let them know where to aim to give me a chuckle but for some reason they never finish and change their mind

not an RCI salesman that’s just what I picked at the time because of all that and the fact it appears to have good mounting coverage

    IMG_5232.jpg

they’re pretty low pro and much less than step bars
    20deg adds to that

Two things, the RCIs stick out more than I’d prefer but they are a lot smaller than I expected. Some sliders have crazy kick outs and I’m just not a fan. But the ones on the white Taco look like a great comprise.

I will say I’ve wheeled a lot over the years. I’ve been all over California, Oregon, Washington, the high Sierras/eastern Sierras, plus Nevada and even did the Rubicon and Moab. Personally I’ve never needed to pivot off anything or needed huge sliders but that’s just me. Also, I’ll acknowledge the size and capabilities of the Taco is different than the other vehicles I’ve owned so my expectations of the Taco are a bit different. Personally I think the Taco is really capable for what it is but I don’t plan on wheeling it super hard. The hardest thing I’ll probably do with my Taco is maybe a small section of the Rubicon just to try it out. Out where I live now we have a ton of gnarly lava rock in the desert and up in the mountains we have a good mix of moguls, ruts and large boulders.

These could be side steps, or home-made sliders. (Only one support in the center, as far as I can tell…)

Body-mounted steps use the three factory mounting points. This one only has one brace in the center, suggesting a 3-point body mount design. (?)

Rock sliders are usually frame mounted, and have multiple mounting points and multiple braces to support the outer slider bar. This slider bar only has the center support, suggesting it’s not really a slider, or possibly a DIY slider. (?)

Also, this slider looks to be mounted up real tight against body, so might transfer impacts to the rocker panel instead of protecting it. (?)

Trail Edition and N-Fab have some straight sliders, but I know nothing about their quality or reputation. Maybe someone else will recognize this particular slider design.
