I have a Verizon prepaid account. I travel a decent amount, strictly within the US, and found I had the best coverage with them. I have wi-fi at home and work and most hotels where I would be staying offer free wi-fi so my account is unlimited talk/text with 5GB per month data. I've never exceeded that 5GB even when running my tracking app on motorcycle rides across multiple states. My bill with a "'bring your own device" is $28.51 per month with auto-pay tied to my Discover Card after my loyalty discount. I've yet to find a better deal with reliable service.

That said I do need to purchase a phone when I need a new phone.

Republic Wireless no longer exists, so you can remove that from your survey.

I had Republic. It was decent for my needs as it was cheap ($20 a month for unlimited talk & text and 2 gig data, with additional data able to be added on demand at $5 per gig - I only needed more than that 2 gig one or two times in the 4 or so years I was with them). Republic was bought up by Dish, who over the next year or so, ported customers over to Boost. Boost charges $25 a month, for unlimited everything. So far I've been happy enough with it that I've stayed.

Here in Wisconsin I have U.S. Cellular. Has been pretty reliable. I have Verizon at work and both phones seem to have similar reception. Cost is about the same as the other big names. I pay $50 per month per line with 3 lines. That is all in with the junk fees. Have been with them for 24 years now.

We’ve had Verizon for years but it is so expensive we’re going to switch this year.
I’ve been looking at Visible, which supposedly uses Verizon network at $25 or $45/month, depending on which plan.

We had Sprint for a few years and coverage was awful.

I’ve used Verizon for quite a while. Tried AT&T for a bit, no coverage at the house. Looks at mint and TMobil, same deal poor coverage.

Remember you only have contracts if you sign up for one. If you are just sticking with the same phone and it’s paid off You can switch to whoever and pay monthly. Most people switch and get offered a free iPhone, but that iPhone comes with commitment.
I have only used Verizon so can’t fully comment on others, but talking with others the grass isn’t always greener. Today’s 5g is faster, but faster speeds come with less distance requiring more towers. Since 5g, coverage is worse on verizon and I assume others. Long story short, If you have a phone paid off, take one to another network and try it. Coverage is king

FirstNet if you can swing it. I know we have a lot of people in the 1st Responder industry and those associated with military.

And yeah - Ditched the land line in 2010 so not an issue anymore. Technically my ISP (Century Link) has assigned a number to my address but it will only call 911 and it isn't hooked up to any phone jacks.

Been using them for quite a few years and customer service has always been top notch. They actually bounce off several other carriers towers so check and see if their coverage works for you. Also I usually outright buy my own phones so going this route was a no brainer.

I have had Mint for several years.. T-Mobile bought out Mint last year, IIRC, before it was owned by Ryan Renolds.
Great customer service, rates, prices. I buy unlocked phones.
15gb of data a month, unlimited texts, calls, $240 a year.
Coverage is good, I lose coverage in Appalachia mountains. My wife's Verizon keeps coverage longer there, but then it loses signal also. Other than that, I had coverage everywhere else in SE.

Another company to look at is Tello. It allows you to mix and match data and voice/txt. They use AT&T network. We have it as well. I try to have several cell carriers in the house, to maximize the possible coverage.

My folks will never own cell phones, so they keep the house phone ha. Zero interest, I don’t blame them :)

Okay I'm the weird one, I'm not tech ignorant (I do electronics and was a web dev for 25 years) but I use my phone for phone calls and important texts, that is all. No apps, no social networks on the phone, no podcasts, nothing else. Sometimes I take pics/videos, that's it, not phonedicted like a majority today. Have your "senior phone service" fun with all of that. :-D

That being said, I cast T-mobile only because we use the "Wal-Mart family plan." It's actually a T-mobile backbone. Two phones, < $70/month, they've been OK for over 6 years.

I have Verizon, and I'm satisfied with everything.
But it's for sure not the cheapest, so I'll look at some other carrier and plans
