    See the sticky thread.

Very few posts there, IMO, considering.

I agree. If there really was a massive deal Toyota would have done something about it AND it would have been much more prevalent. The guy is 100% a second gen owner, too.

Well let’s see, Toyota made almost a quarter million 3.5’s for the Tacoma, not to mention all the other cars that use basically the same engine, so I’d say that it’s not really unexpected that there are a few failures out in the wild. Drive it until it breaks, then fix or replace.

Wow a whole 7 cylinder heads on 2GR in 2023 at his dealer. Out of how many that came through the door that year. I bet that would be .01% of all the 2GR engines that came in that year. I'm at a mid sized dealer. And I think we have done maybe 15 in the last 3 years.

Maybe quarter million the last couple of years. Around 1.6 million 3.5L Tacomas total from 2016 to 2023.

 Even if there were 10,000 failures, that would be a .6% failure rate. Crazy low.

I wouldn't go that far. Toyota isn't going to fix an issue unless they are forced too. They have showed us that with leaking timing covers and howling diffs for the last 10 years.

None of us know the data on any of these issues other than Toyota. It could be way more than everyone "assumes" or it could even be less.

People on here tend to assume it's less to make themselves feel better lol.
