Installed the tuffy safe today. Now my lid doesn't stay closed and when i finally use some force to close it the lid gets stuck and i have to violently force it open. It doesn't seem to be any protrusion and everything seems flush on the Tuffy safe.

BTW if any of you are thinking about this safe think twice. Firstly i was missing a washer and a brace was slightly bent out of shape. No biggie but i had to run to the hardware store for another vinyl washer and it was easy enough to straighten out brace.
Next instructions could have been a little better albeit not too bad EXCEPT for the last brace that went in. It took me some weird tries to figure out what the instructions were explaining. Why doesn't Tuffy have online youtube vids available??? What's so difficult?
The latch was bitch to attach if you don't have smaller hands. My hands are not that big but even i had a hard time awkwardly maneuvering around and getting the bolt, 2 washers and locking nut to line up perfectly and tighten.
Some screws that were used could have been a little longer to make grabbing the lock nut a little easier.
And lastly now my console lid cannot stay closed. All this for $200. Any advice would be appreciated.

Remove the safe. From your own experience it sounds like an inferior product causing the problem with the latch.

well yes i could but i spent good money on it and other that closing the tacoma lid the safe installed is satisfactory. just need to see if anyone has experience with this product issue and if there is a solution. I searched and think i found a solution which consists of dremeling a small part of a metal peice which partially blocks the latch hole, but just want to see more issue solutions

If it don’t fit, you either remove it or grinder down.

well it does fit i guess it's just the latch and i couldn't figure out where it was getting stuck so when you say grind down i really need a specific area to grind

Yup that's the one I found after i posted this question. Seems like a solution to my problem but the OP 's issue is he can't get it back open where my issue is i can't keep the lid closed as it doesn't latch well. Same but a little different. Before the safe it was working fine and the safe seems to be in there completely so it does seem that the issue is that metal plate blocking the latch hole
