I have a 2019 Tacoma and out of nowhere my truck won’t start now. I checked the battery, the fuses, the starter relay. When I ran power to the starter it turned over but wouldn’t start. I think it might have something to do with the chip in the key or the security system maybe. Unfortunately I do not have a spare. Was wondering what I should do next before I spend more money and have it towed to the dealership? Thanks

Have you had the fuel pump recall done? Your Tacoma is covered for 10 years regardless of mileage.

I know this sounds crazy, but hear me out. Do you have aftermarket tail lights? I've heard of a set of aftermarket tails causing a no start.

Assuming your key battery is good and you are able to lock/unlock the truck to reset security

Just to cover all the bases. Did you do anything recently to the truck?

What does it actually do when you turn the key? Click?

Your battery is 5 years old can you confirm it's getting good contact with the terminals?

I f you think it as something to do with the fob. I read if you hold the fob in front of the ignition push bottom this will reset something and then you can start. not sure just saying.

I don't think 4 cylinders came with push start.

That's why I bought the SR5 over the TRD.
Give me keys or give me death.

Same with this start-stop b.s. - I refuse to buy a vehicle that has it even if you can disable it.

But do let us know what the cause is.

    The truck has 85k miles
The key is a turn key but it has the buttons to lock and unlock it and set off the alarm.
The battery is 3 years old and the connection is good.
It doesn’t click or make any noise when I turn it over, I can just hear the fan turn off when I stop turning the key.
There is an alarm button down by where the trunk popper is and it is not in the manual at all

The only work that I have done recently was a week before it stopped working, I had new tires put on and went frown a size.
I also broke the driver side taillight a week or two before that, but I haven’t replaced it yet.
Thank you very much for all of the reply’s

Have the battery load tested, or try jump starting the truck. Just because it’s 3 YO, doesn’t mean it’s good, they last all the way from 3 hours old to 10 YO.

"Turn it over" usually means turn key and the starter is actually engaging and trying to start or turn over.
"just hear fan turn off when I stop turning the key"
Sounds to me like nothing is actually happening.
My guess is battery no good.
Replace it. Forget trying to charge.

Very well could be a short in the taillight from moisture entering.
