As I was walking my dog I came across my neighbor working on his 4Runner(corrected).

Is this a Tacoma or is this the early 90s forerunner? How can you tell the difference, for any of the experts? I truly don’t know. I Have a 92 pickup and an 04 double cab Tacoma, so this one falls in the obscure area for me.

    Pretty sure it’s a 1st gen 4runner. Nice rig

Didn’t realize they still looked this way! Funny how Toyota styles jumped around between tacos and 4Runners.

    I’m thinking possibly an 87 or 88 4Runner

The hard top. My understanding is 1st gen 4Runners are just 4th gen pickups with a removable hard top and the rear cab wall removed

I am very surprised at all the uncertainty of what that is. It is, without a doubt, a 1st gen 4runner. I've seen people mistakenly refer to Toyota pickups as Tacomas, but never seen a 4runner called a Tacoma (Taco). That is a very nice rig though.

Solid axle says 84-85 ish. I'm jelly, even with it putting out 96-116 hp.
