maybe? im not familar with the limited trim, wider fender flares like the offroads?
maybe theyre painting over the rough rippled textured plastic finish of the offroad flares?

thats why I mentioned go look at others...

my 3rd gen has the same thing on the fender. I was told by the chief auto body repair mech at my local dealer that, it is normal because the material is different. I tried to argue that it looks like dog crap and should be addressed, he said i can contact corporate and see how far it gets me but he has heard complaints before but never had to do anything about it. :notsure:

Looks like they painted an OR fender flare.

Y'all are being dumb, the fender flares are plastic (like most of the bumper surrounds), and the paint is always less glossy there. My 2nd gen was the exact same way.

I thought we were talking about the door or something, did I misread that?

Also, bottom of the door / rocker panel has a textured pattern due to the corrosion-resistant base coat. That one is a known and accepted orange peel texture.

The original post was complaining about the doors not the fender flares.

I’m just learning to live with it. I haven’t seen any quality workmanship on a gen3 Tacoma yet and it looks as though it has carried over to gen4. I also have a gen1 2004 built in California that has better panel alignment than my 2023.

that’s EXACTLY how it is done for 3rg gen tacomas. a good amount of people don’t know about that.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
Yep. Remember similar complaints and questions when 3rd gens came out comparing painted metal surfaces vs painted plastic (body and bumper joins). The painted plastic "bumper" parts have a noticeably different look in terms of texture and sheen vs metal.

It doesn't look great but can't tell compared to say black 3rd gens how far off it is from those.

The doors don't have a deep gloss like the hood and the top of the box.The sides of the truck barely reflect the chrome wheels on my wife's car that sit next to it.The fender flares almost look like the paint was brushed on,does not look like the rock guard near the bottom of the truck. The plastic bumpers look better than the fender flares.I looked at a couple of trucks at different dealership with color matched fender flares and they both matched perfectly with a very high gloss finish that actually matched the body. One was red other was white. They also had a few new black Tundra's that had very high gloss paint throughout the truck.Still waiting on Toyota to call me for someone to look at it!

Dang I sure hate that for you it would be a shame if they have to repaint your new truck. I’m not sure if there is enough clear coat to cut and buff.

My 2023 TRD Sport was on a three month QC hold and the dealership assured me that was a good thing said it will be perfect. When it finally arrived at the dealer the bed, rear bumper, hood and right rear door all had to realigned at the body shop.

The paint quality has definitely gone downhill. To be honest, the SS Cyberturd is tempting because of zero paint issues and no paper thin sheet metal to deal with.

Think I saw some owners reporting the panels were actually starting to rust. Must be like a SS grill sitting out on the deck.

I have a gen1 ORDC built in California and the build quality is three times better than my 2023. Toyota builds a nice looking truck but as far as quality it pretty much sucks. Just read the post nothing but problems with gen3 and now gen4. Most likely the last Toyota I will purchase.

That has been debunked. Google rail dust and you will see what the issue is.

Once again the liberal mainstream media is spreading FUD regarding Cybertruck corrosion. The rust spots are iron fallout during rail transportation and are easily removed with products like Iron-X.

If you have a little experience with stainless steel, you'll know that foreign iron or mild steel contacting the surface will in fact cause the SS to start oxidizing (could range from mild rouge to full blown rust).

So yes, it may be caused by rail dust, but it can make the actual panel oxidize as well.

It'll be interesting to see how Cybertrucks do in coastal settings as well, since SS isn't immune to salt corrosion either.
