What great too was taking a step back with the R3. After riding it for a while and doing a track day dragging knee has given me more confidence riding the FZ1.

    Couple test rides today :D

Got a kid on the way so keep having this feeling of responsibility to not get something that I’ll be 10x more likely to make poor choices on than something else. I think these two bikes are either end of that spectrum haha. Ended up not quite being down for either. The XSR was too fun but the whole ride I just kept thinking, man, I’d hate to leave that kid over this bike ha.

Wife told me to come home with a bike or a firearm so today we chose another plinker and a bunch more ammo instead :)

Yeah I feel this. Got the Ohlins HO201 for my Honda 919 with 4k miles on it like 10yrs ago for 500$, well worth it. Put probably 10-15k miles on it, sold it last year after I sold the bike for 600$.

Needless to say it's tough to find suspension that's not crazy price for the slightly older bikes. But it's well worth it.

I wonder if someone has come up with an OEM shock swap for the FZ1 at this point that works well?

Honestly, I’m more blessed than I know what to do with, and try to make her life heaven on earth best I can as well. She’s super supportive and always telling me to get myself another bike, another gun, more welding supplies, projects, tools haha. If I wasn’t more financially responsible we’d be screwed for sure!

I passed a couple big certifications for work and she said to get one to celebrate. I said, what if I fail both certs? She said, better get one to make yourself feel better then haha. Luckily I passed today!

Anyway, off to bed like an old lady. Up early. Ride safe, y’all!

Well, got a response on the 2019 ST. I think it was to the "is it still available" one.

It is amazing what a good suspension will do for the bike and giving confidence to the rider.
I did a Penske rear and ak20 cartridge in my 2002 FZ1 and it transformed the bike. The ohlins and Andreani cartridges on the R3 did the same. It’s actually better money spent than on power mods.

Congrats on the kid on the way! Is it your first? I’m sitting in a dark room with my 8wk old daughter on my chest trying not to fall asleep before she does :bored:

What’s the plinker? little bolt action 22? I need to get out and shoot sometime, I haven’t shot anything of mine in probably 5 years :anonymous:

For a bike that's going to be ridden and more than in just a straight line 1000% agreed, suspension setup and tuning is so much more worth it than damn near everything else other than reliability mods/maintenance

First, yeah! We’re both so stoked! We were both the, raise all the siblings, cousins, and everyone else’s kids types our whole lives so we’re excited to finally start having some of our own.

The plinker is a Ruger American Rimfire. For the money they’re great for burning through some affordable ammo. My baby brother and his friends have finally been getting into shooting and I realized I can buy two more of these and give them thousands of rounds to burn through for less money than them eating up my more expensive ammo haha. So it’s more for teaching others on.

Buddy is selling a 2014 Honda CB1100 I may pick up, to keep this thread on topic. Nothing new is hitting the right itch and I’m not mad at him asking 5k for it. Long drive to pick up though, been too busy!

I asked him to let me know if it falls through. He said he would.

Then I asked what day they are coming to look at it so I know when to be checking for an email. Really hoping the other buyer passes.

Yeah, it's one of the two in Cali. The 2019 with a bit over 7K miles on it. It's prices so well that I knew it'd move fast. Kinda pissed that Cycletrader didn't send the first couple emails. Basically delayed me contacting the guy by 4 or 5 days.

Yup. If that one doesn't work I think I might pony up a little more for a little newer one with a bit more mileage from a dealership. It'd depend on the OTD price and if CA is going to try and force me to pay tax on one I buy from a dealership there. If it's too much of a hassle I will look in other states. CA just has so much competition the the prices are better, at least what they advertise is.

Out of all the calibers, 22LR is still and will always be my fave, just puts a grin on your face anytime you shoot it IMO.

Those CB1100's are beautiful. Not sure how they ride but damn honda did a great job with the styling on those. Always wanted to take one for a spin.

YESSS sure is.... @50Buck offer stands!
