Just wanted to get everyone’s opinion on what happened to me with my local dealership.

so I notice the transmission was leaking and took it too the shop to get it checked out and they said they couldn’t find anything.

I am not all that mechanically inclined so I took their word for it. After some time I got under the truck again to check and the leak continued so I took it to another garage and they confirmed it was leaking.

so who is too say now that my transmission isn’t compromised due to a mistake on the dealers behalf?

What is leaking and from what location?

Is this dealer your only choice?

That would depend on how much ATF was lost. And you can’t blame them for any lost ATF that occurred before you took it them. How much did it take to top off?

    Take pictures.

Put some absorbent material at the leak location, like a bandage, as a demonstration.

Ask to speak to the tech who will be doing the work, before he gets the vehicle.

Show him the pics and tell him what he's going to find when he gets it on the lift

It’s at the dealer now so I’m not sure how much they added. I just won’t trust it if they say everything is “fine”

you gotta get us a little little more to go on. Crawl under there and take pictures. And what is your definition of leak?

Did it leave a puddle on the ground? If it did leave a puddle, how big is the puddle? How long did it take to make said puddle?

You're probably OK. Doesn't take much oil to make a big mess when combined with dust and road grime

If you can, get under there and degrease the entire area. Trans and transfer case. Then continue to monitor

It will be much easier if you can take it to a shop and point to the weep. Otherwise oil spreads and creeps over time. Makes it hard to pinpoint the origin

That does not look excessive. Looks almost normal to me. Did you ever feel transmission slippage? What is the new shop saying as to the repairs? It could be that they are pulling your chain as to repairs.

I didn’t think any amount of leak would be normal.

no issues to date. Luckily it’s still under warranty should hear back in the next few days what their plan is

Just noticed you have a 2021. Yes, not normal for a three year old model. And if your truck does have a leak, it may be covered by the drivetrain warranty. Where does the new shop say is cause of leak? If you never felt thr transmission slipping, it likely has no permanent damage.
