I just installed a Cali Raised cat shield on the driver side of my '22 Tacoma. I think the install went well. Noticed the shield gets within a finger's width, 3/4", of the drive shaft. Does anyone one if that is normal? Is that too close? Hard to tell from install videos.

    Thanks.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I wouldn't expect it to be a problem unless you drive in a lot of slushy snow conditions.
Can't speak from experience as I don't have a shield on my '21 TRD.

It's fine, if the driveshaft wobbles bad enough to ever hit it, you have far bigger and more expensive issues then clearance.

Thank you @CT Yankee and @fxntime . I guess what you are saying is that everything down in that area moves together... for example, the drive shaft or anything that the cat shield is attached to won't move independently when off-road, etc.

The shield is bolted to the frame. The front end of the driveshaft is bolted to the front diff, which is bolted to the frame with a bushing. That 3/4" clearance won't change much unless the front diff mount bushing is wallowed out, in which case you'd replace the bushing.

@MTBTACORN Thank you very much for finding that post. I did do a search, but didn't come up with that: which directly answers my question. Much appreciated.

@3JOH22A Thank you for that add-on. Again, very helpful.

That’s normal spacing, I put on the set about two weeks ago and yeah it’s about 3/4 of an inch.

Yes that is correct! Like @fxntime mentioned if your drive shaft moves thats far bigger problem!

Thanks for choosing us and let me know if you have any other questions.
