    Third (fourth? seventh?) idea

    You have a bed outlet.

    https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Sol...sprefix=battery+bank+generator,aps,104&sr=8-3

Yes, DC to AC to DC is not efficient, but this just plugs in, charges when you're driving as is, and then you're good to go.

This is how a lot of people charge jackery banks, using the bed outlet. It works. It's not the most efficient way, but it takes zero mods, zero effort, and you're done. And, it's in the cap so you don't get into your sleeping bag and then think "Oh balls, I forgot I was charging it in the cab today"

Tiff and I have those fairy light things in our tent running off of 3 AAA batteries and its been that way for 3 years on the same batteries. Works too good to even try anything else.

yeah if the cap didn’t already come with lighting I’d go that way.

honestly thinking of getting one of the ones with a remote so I can change the color to match the red of my interior lighting in the cab

:spy: I'm really bad at reading.

    Red lights FTW

    Also red doesn't attract skeeters

Nice, good to know! I might grab a set then for the tent.

I appreciate the nod. We certainly do our best over here!
As you've stumbled upon already we don't have everything up and live on the site. We're a small (but quite dedicated) team. Website buildout has been our focus as of this month, but there's quite a mountain to climb for just a couple of goons with a keyboard! If you know what you're after and can link me to a comparable listing I can give you insights as well as pricing. If you really don't know what you want I can certainly help out there as well. I pretty much live and breathe this stuff so I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks. Consider me clueless and a slow study.

I do like the Bilstein setup, I feel it’s more than I need with out going overboard.
Currently, my 22 ORP runner, has bolt on sliders, roof rack and rtt. I plan to add skids, maybe front bumper with winch and even more of a maybe, rear bumper. I’m not looking to lift much, mainly improve road manners, handle the added weight better and gain some clearance with out adding other issues and problems.

To put it simply there's a couple way to do this - None of them are perfect pnp, but they'll all accomplish the job, and I've gotten pretty good at guessing how something will react! I also don't know your exact weights (which RTT specifically for example) so I'm somewhat shooting from the hip. 6112/5160 is a solid setup. Very common for the overland type of build, and in most all cases the best bang for the buck IMO.
    1. Based on your desire to be at roughly stock height we could go with a standard load spring to the tune of about 1.5" of rear lift on a stock truck, and assume that the weight that you have on the truck will deflect that spring enough to get you to nearly stock height. Since the 6112s will give you at least .7" up front, we're going to want to grab at least a LITTLE lift in the rear when it's all said and done.
    2. Go with a heavy weight spring intended for your amount of load, but go into it knowing that you're definitely going to be getting some lift out of it since you're not knocking on the door of what we would consider a heavy weight setup.
I'd probably personally take #1. What I would do is have you take hub-to-fender measurements in the rear to find out how much your setup is deflecting your OEM springs now, and budget that same amount of loss in when we select new springs to find out a settled height.

Also, I saw you mentioning other components. Since you're not asking for a bunch of lift here (if any) I am not recommending new trailing arms, panhard rods, etc. We can entertain a new panhard rod down the line if your axle ends up off-center, but I have no reason to believe that it should with your proposed setup.

iKamper X-cover, 150 lbs. plus Sherpa Crestone, 50 lbs. then cooler and other gear. Nor am I a small human.
How bad will the ride be if we went with the heavier spring out of the gate?

So you've probably got about 250lbs being applied to the rear axle as far as weight is concerned when unloaded, and all of 350 when you load up. If you go with the heavier spring out of the gate you just run the risk of riding "atop" the spring. It will more or less feel as though there's no spring back there at all is the best way I can explain it. Just very firm. You probably have enough to engage that spring now so I wouldn't be too concerned. My only caveat I was trying to work around was trying to limit your lift. What we always could do is order everything but get you springs and rear shocks first. Then we would just build the 6112s to suit your desired ride height after we figure out where the new rear setup will settle into :notsure:

I'll throw out there - sliders are 100% added weight, skids are 99% since the stocks are so flimsy. But with bumpers - usually you end up stripping off a lot of weight, then adding only a bit more. My front bumper is probably only an "added" 20ish lbs, and rear I think is going to be similar. I am dropping the receiver and bumper, to add the bumper, etc etc. Front dropped some frame/crash bars in there, and added the plate bumper.

Ignoring the winch, to be fair.

Fronts will add a decent amount of weight, only taking off plastic and aluminum crash bar.

Rob your rear bumper will add a grand total of 9 lbs.

    that's what I mean!

I also don't have the support plates for winching, which would add a couple pounds. But I think (at least for mine) we took off a good chunk of metal. At least enough that the "raw" weight of the bumper was pretty decently offset with that.

And like you've now given numbers to, +9lb net for that rear :notsure:

Just some food for thought for Mr. Bill when he's trying to crunch numbers on what he's adding, that he's taking off a bunch of stuff too (potentially).

I forgot about my skids. Thanks @GarlicFarts

I’ll say 50 lbs each, as I couldn’t quickly find that info.

I really think the heavy spring might be the smarter choice and just accept the lift height it ends up at.

I thought I sent this yesterday.

But after reading/researching more last night, I am more in the air at the moment.
