Tacoma grill lights turn on with Stalk in Auto? for LED Harness with grill lights

Question will the grill lights turn on 100% of the time when you have the stalk in Auto instead of on, since the signals are combined with the diode on the 3 position AMP connector from the Park and DRL, I would think not?

If not any configuration to have the grill lights on 100% of the time with the provided harness, other than with the stalk in on?

 

Not Dave (obviously), but I can help. The grille light does combine DRL and Parking lights, so it does only turn on when one of those signals is present (auto, parking, or low beams). If you wanted them to come on whenever the truck is on, you will need to grab an ignition controlled circuit. The most common way of of doing that for grille lights is a fuse tap under the hood. Unfortunately nothing in the headlight is live when the stalk is set to off.

Edit: just reread and not sure I did answer. The grille lights WILL be on anytime the stalk is in auto, parking lights, or low beams. The grille lights will NOT be on however when the stalk is set to “off”

 

On whenever stalk is not in Off. that’s the easy way to remember it.

 

some of us like having a way to go dark / stealth. Good for driving situations where you want to attract the least attention possible.

 

Sorry for the dumb follow up question so the Auto position on the stalk is considered on then? Meaning grill lites will be on?
I ussually keep my lights in this AUTO setting unless i just want to turn everything off. for the stealth mode!!!

 

Exactly right. Auto means either DRL (ambient light detected) or parking lights and low beams (dark outside). Then park is parking lights (and DRL). Low beams is parking lights and low beams, no DRL. And high beams is on top of that.

 

Morning need some help, bought the harness for the tacoma for the LED conversion with grill lights and the grill lights will not come on once connected to the harnees, tested then directly to battery and they turned on.

Headlights work perfectly love it just the help with the grill lights!

Did try all the position on the light swith and lowering the parking brake and all after connected
