Replaced needle bearing todaywith ECGS, not sure if I put the axle back in correctly. Does it look like it’s too far out? Or is this the normal gap?

That looks normal to me.. it can’t go anymore..the seal on the axle housing is flush with the housing.. the metal part you see is a dust ring for the cv axle I believe.. but others who know more will chime in

Looks good to me. You probably also have a bit of play if you push/pull on it.

you either popped it in or you didn’t. It looks popped in.

some movement is normal. And also making sure you didn’t knick the seal on the way in to cause a leak. That is different from slight residual left over from the job that can be cleaned or go away on its own and stop versus an actual leak.

^^this. I recently replaced my CV axle and did the ECGS bushing (separately, so i had the pleasure of removing the CV twice), I still have the in and out wiggle room with about the same gap when I pull towards the wheel but you're definitely popped in with the circlip. I always check by just trying to pull the axle back out once I think I'm in. Generally if the clip is engaged you aren't gonna be able to pull it back out by hand but if you can pull it back out you're not locked in yet.
