Hi, I am new here but have had a 2nd gen Pre-Runner since 2017. I love this truck but it had a small crash in the front left part of the truck. I am not going to claim it with insurance and hesitate to send it to a shop since they quoted north of $10k. I am considering doing the work myself. Any advice on where to buy parts? Also, what about buying already painted parts for the hood, fender, and bumper (the grill is in perfect condition).

    I will need the following:
radiator support, front left aprons, hood, fender, bumper, windshield

Car-part and see what’s local to you. Might even find parts the same color.

I think I'd start by having the alignment checked.

Hmmm, small crash, actually looks like a decent wreck to me. I would think you’d want to check for frame and suspension damage first. Replacing a radiator support can be a little challenging as the thin metal can be tricky to weld. I think with basic skills you shouldn’t have a problem, just take your time and do it right

The truck runs straight - no issues with alignment but I will double check for sure

You should totally do it yourself. I did mine and it was pretty easy. (I did have a shop weld in a new totally new apron) but everything else I removed and replaced myself.

The hardest part is getting a good deal on parts and then delivery time. I had to wait six months for Toyota to get me my hood.

    https://autoparts.toyota.com/find-dealer

Toyota will have a 15% sale at some point which will be in addition to the dealer discount. I search online til I find the part I need closest to me for 28% off plus free shipping. Then wait for the Toyota Sale (Memorial day most likely) 43% off plus free shipping is the deal! Be aware that some things will say they will ship but some dealers will call you after it arrives and tell you "you have to pick it up."

I would avoid after market for the most part. I didn't save enough money to make me feel like I should have bought the aftermarket stuff I did. Most of them didn't fight exactly right. The Fender Flares I got were aftermarket for a good deal but the hood latch didn't work at all and I had to order an OEM one, for example....

Rockauto will have OEM manufactures like Denso that you can get for a deal.

Make sure you salvage as much as you can. Little things like screws and plastic tabs can get expensive. Plus you never know if the new part will have every little piece you'll need.

Now is the time to do the Front End Conversion if your thinking about it! Otherwise maybe get yourself the 2011 color matched grill, I love mine!

    Good Luck!

OK, so after doing some homework I am starting to rebuild my Taco. I was able to save everthing but the hood and the front left fender. Those came in this last week so I am now ready to start work. More posts to come....
