I did a custom shovel and axe mount copied from that thread and an Amazon mount on the other side for the hi lift. It’s under a softtopper so it doesn’t see any weather.

Everyone seems to be mounting horizontally. I went vertical.

    you know what’s even better?

    a 60”
and things mounted outside of the bed so they don’t interfere with use of the bed

My 60" fits just fine in the bed and it doesn't interfere with use of the bed. It's also clean, lubed, and ready to go when I need it.

    Jack is on the bumper
    traction boards roof

need to figure out how to get my shovel and axe out the bed

    IMG_5592.jpg

Bumper 60” jack with locking knob

traction boards are between the cargo boxes, on Sherpa grand Teton
Using their mounting plate that goes on the crossbars
    with lock through the pin

haven’t figured out how to get shovel and axe there

if I figure out a way to put shovel on left side roof rack
    Axe right side
It would block future stuff like side awning
So maybe will have to come up with something else

bed is used for sleeping and moving cargo so equipment inside is not ideal
Theres a platform in the way.

better would be a Ute tray
    Or pop up GFC
    necessitating switch to shorter rack
but at $8500+ to move bed upstairs not planning on it any time soon

    maybe DIY home made
In which case Ute tray probably better than GFC.

anyone know if quick fists are strong enough to bolt to roof rack
With one bolt through the rubber
Or will it rip out from wind?

versus metal bracket that holds quickfist more securely with 2 bolts instead of 1

then attach bracket to side of rack with one (longer) bolt into crossbar hole
    IMG_5596.jpg

by itself, quickfist shows following load rating

Not sure if that’s enough to handle highway wind speed acting on shovel head

It will handle it. I have used these to mount Shovel and axe on the side of my gfc.

    thanks

had an idea to move bed rail holders to the rack and it fits
    Kind of
Bolts too big so only half are used right now and bulky bike lock

might just get smaller bolts and see how I can get it to fit.
Cheap and holds both on one side to leave room for awning on other side.

    door clears

    IMG_5612.jpg

besides that probably gonna play around with positioning of everything
The brackets and shovel + axe ie facing front or rear, picking which to go on top etc

and switch to a small gun cable lock from HFT that isn’t the mess of a bike lock + hopefully fit through the end handle hole of the Fiskars axe
