LOL, I bought the trailer when I had a Tundra. I asked dozens of people about towing thjs trailer with a taco. I never had a small truck before. It was unanimously, "No Problem, I tow a yada yada, yada". I thought I might have problem because it was on boost when towing. I'm now finding the boost kicks in all the time reguardless of load. I have 2000 miles on the truck now. ~200 towing that trailer. I'm feeling much better about it now.

There's a lot of people towing out of spec who say "I've towed X for a thousand miles and never had a problem" and there are also trucks with premature wear on all kinds of components because they've been over loaded so often. Then there's the ones that kept doing it an broke their truck. The "I haven't had any problems" crowd don't include the word "yet" and almost certainly won't be popping into a forum if something breaks to say they were wrong when they called everyone else a chicken or an idiot.

At the very least, I would say you want a WDH to try and get some of that weight back onto the front. The trailer being nose down with the truck being the opposite is bad for wear and controlling the vehicle, even if it is somehow within spec. on the weight.

Have any of these people towed an 8.5 foot wide enclosed trailer behind a Taco? Cause as you mentioned above, you can't see around the trailer. I really wouldn't suggest anyone tow wider than a 7.5 enclosed with a Taco, and that's probably even pushing it for visibility with your tow mirrors. The weight is way less of an issue than visibility and wind resistance. Previous generations of Tacomas could get flip up towing mirrors similar the the ones on a Ram, but even those, I'm not sure how well they'd work with an 8+ foot wide trailer. Here's a set available on Amazon for a 2nd Gen.

And while we knit-pick your trailer setup:

I just noticed the length of your safety chains. This is partly due to your longer hitch, but those chains should be short enough that if the trailer detached from the ball, the crossed chains would support the trailer tongue without it touching the ground.

I swear I'm not trying to be a jerk, just wanting to keep your rig as safe as possible while you're towing that trailer

Thanks for all the thoughts. My biggest concern was over working the motor and transmission. After 200 miles towing, I’m not worried about that anymore. It about 5k loaded. I just ordered a wireless RV camera. That should help with lane changes
