Remove the diff drop, do the bootslide mod with new OEM boots and you'll be fine.

I’ve watched that video several times! Thanks guys!! I think I’ll get an O'Reilly unit , and use the reboot kit I’ve been storing in my garage during Covid, and do this boot slide mod. Folks don’t seem to be against that! I could think about lowering it but I really like the way it sits now. Since I don’t wheel I’ll just take things nice and easy. This truck usually just hauls stuff or pulls a utility trailer.

    4 run, 2 don't
You will tear boots on the O'Reilly unit

The boot slide mod only works for OEM-style CV axles

Just lower it, not sure why you're so against it considering how IFS works

The store brands can sometimes have less articulation than stock. I installed some aftermarket ones on an FJ cruiser recently, at full droop I couldn't even turn the wheel. CV was binding.

I think he meant he was going to buy an Oreilly axle so he can take his time rebooting his stock OEM axles with OEM boots (I hope).

It's double the work but if you need the truck then I get it.

Yes this is correct, I don’t have a choice, I knew this would be a problem during Covid when I lifted the truck so I ended up buying the tools and the boot kit and luckily when this one tore, I knew exactly the day that it did and I stopped driving it. Luckily, it’s not rained and The CV axle hasn’t made any noise so I know it can be rebooted! Unfortunately, I’ve not done this before and I’m only moderately handy, but I’m getting better, So I’ll have to watch the rebooting videos about 30 more times before I get started.

Napa axles definitely had less articulation when I used them, I could hear them binding under fill droop and higher speed. Went back to oem, issue never became present again.

I’ve seen diff drops actually bend the bolts at the front mounts due to the angle being thrown off by the spacers, maybe not an issue if you don’t wheel your rig, but it does throw off the geometry.

OP, if you have a winch and a tube front bumper it’ll definitely help mellow out your lift up front, the springs will settle over time

I thought the spacers were meant to help correct the diff angle when you lift the truck?
