I'm of the opinion both realities exist in the same realm. Medicine/treatments (both human and animal) have advanced exponentially over the course of time. We know more today than we did in the 80's, and we have the tools to combat many of these discoveries. On the other side of the coin, greed and pursuit of wealth has also continuously increased. Does a dog that spends its entire life on a farm need 8 vaccines for bacteria/diseases related to kennel cough? Probably not. Does every human need every vaccine offered under the sun? Probably not. But at some point, it becomes more about others than yourself/your animal, and "failure to comply" leads to not having access to certain services/careers/etc (such as getting to board your dog at a vet while on vacation, working in a hospital/medical setting, etc).

Definitely sucks that the two realities are intertwined; it makes for a lot of cloudiness and bad info.

I would suggest that while we may have a clearer understanding of some things, we've gone backwards in others.

The beginning of the last century was the discovery of petroleum and its application in medicine. 90% of that industry in the US was own by one guy. Rockefeller used his power and influence to basically eliminated every other method of studying medicine. (natural, holistic, homeopathy, etc.) Medicine was standardized and certified and dissenting ideas and methods shamed and financially starved from existence.

I've not studied medicine, so this is all my opinion and minimal research by comparison.

In all the time of modern medicine, I believe actual cures have been traded for vaccines which are neither full proof nor necessarily healthy. Foreign (not your own) fetal DNA is generally used as the delivery method for such things. Foreign DNA in your body is typically something that would trigger attack from your own immune system trying to protect you. It's vastly understudy for obvious reasons. But people who are studying these things are the ones often talking about the rise in diseases, auto-immune or otherwise.

Typical arguments, I know. But for me, the resistance to honest pursuit of discovery, the empire of the drug industry, the fact that the US spends the most on Healthcare in the world and sits down near the 40th spot in actual health compared to the rest of the world, are enough to convince me that the reason the alternative medicines are making a come back now are because there are answers to be found there.

Sorry that was long. (Coulda been longer :anonymous:) this subject gets me :blahblah:

Just a thought- be very careful not to throw away the baby with the bath water. We only lost the last iron lung user last month, and polio is back on the radar for the first time in decades. I get being skeptical, but tossing all vaccinations because of a suspicion feels premature.

Agreed. I have no issues with people being pro or anti vax. Everyone's understanding or information is imperfect. Critical thinking is the key. There's a real lack of mindfulness in our world today. Important matters require thought, time and effort. :fistbump:

But remember, those countries that are at the top of the list for health, that don't spend tons of money on Healthcare, that don't have huge Pharma industries and Rockefellers.. They can also see the value of vaccines when it comes to public health.

    First see my post above.

I'm suggesting that the "science" has been one sided, incomplete and highly subjective. Having worked in statistics in the past, I know how people make numbers and data say whatever proves their point without anyone the wiser. Bill Gates has his nose in plenty of other countries, so I'm not sure we can rule out their influence. Like sports betting, there's too much money involved at this point for it to be believable.

That said, I just want the whole story. I like hearing fair debates about different ideas in order to make up my mind about something. Let good ideas prove themselves and bad ones likewise. This area has seemingly been steamrolled and that's just not good enough for me. The lack of honesty and variety invites skepticism and produces a lack of credibility in my book.

It's all about "shareholder value" and corporate bean counters. Greed trumps all. As long as that prevails, we're all just coppertops for bean counters.

Back in the day sometimes a pet just died. Along with the advances in veterinary diagnostics come advances in veterinary treatments which comes with advances in veterinary costs. 40years ago nobody knew their pet was diabetic or was having kidney failure, Spot just died one day and you buried him in the back yard. These days spot ends up in an urn on the mantle next his picture and the owner is fighting with Spot's insurance company because they wouldn't fund his kidney transplant.

    It's a different world.
