Your crap MPG is similar to what is seen with the Tundra and on par with the (few) trucks being tracked on Fuelly.

    That link worked, thanks.

The TRD Pro in Underground / black roof with the black SofTex interios sure looks nice. There's *just* the right amount of red accents in the interior to create the illusion that the person who bought it isn't a flaming asshole.

ETA: I see that the iso seat covers went bye bye. The dampers are exposed.

I don’t drive fast at all. I try to baby my vehicles especially with what they cost these days. I’m getting 18.2 average on the raptor but I only have 731 miles. This is a mix of city and rural area driving

As I stated earlier, anytime you have third parties involved, things are never full proof. But the Tacoma still holds its reputation for a reason.

I feel the reputation is declining.

In 20 years will third gen’s be as loved and sought after as first gen’s are today?

    i highly doubt it

While I’ll have to admit, I do think there has been some brand loyalty damage with the onslaught of changes in this new fourth generation. Yes, I do believe the first second and third generations are gonna hold their love in the long haul.

And don't forget about the problems with the Tundras. I believe that Toyota took care of the customers pretty well in those cases, which goes a long ways to keeping up their reputation. That gives me some comfort in buying a first year truck, and the fact that Toyota cant screw up two new model launches, or they will look REALLY bad.

Most reviews so far, including this one, indicate that the hybrid system does not make a significant difference in performance.

Base TRD OR 4x4 AT has a curb weight of 4,630 lbs.
Hybrid Base TRD OR 4x4 AT has a curb weight of 5,030 lbs.

To me I feel like the regular trim should achieve higher highway MPG on a long road trip if you try and "hyper mile" it.

Does not seem like they were really thrilled to be reviewing the truck.

I agree with their observation that a trailer brake controller on a vehicle that can tow more than 3000 pounds should be standard equipment.

They seem to have either grown tired of the 2024 Tacoma topic or just tired in general. It almost seems like it's a "they" problem and not a truck problem.

That being said, I am legitimately concerned about the number of reviewers that come out and said that the hybrid system isn't doing much.

Let me throw this out there...How many reviews have we seen with the hybrid under a load? I mean that is really where it should shine right? 278 to 326 HP is really not that much but the extra 150tq is.

Miles achieved a whopping 7.3 seconds to 60 in the real world:
    https://youtu.be/mDSsCVMKdWM?si=FTRjYt5IDUHPikzn&t=896

They aren't impressed because it is not impressive, at least not compared to any normal full size (including a normal Tundra) for its performance.

I was gonna say, every single one of these videos floor it and that surely would show the Torque advantage of the hybrid.

Seems that maybe Toyota did a really good job on the regular motor and has inadvertently rendered the hybrid unnecessary.

Maybe the software logic that engages the hybrid system is conservative to a fault.
