I had my trucks RPM redline after hitting a few bumps in the road off the freeway exit. Immediately, my RPMs up, engine revving.
Accelerator pedal was not stuck, nor was my shifter stuck in gear. The only way to get it to stop was pull off to the side of the rode and shut my truck off. I checked the throttle cable near the plenum, seemed fine. Turned my truck back on, RPMs shot up and reclined again.
Super generous dude towed me home.
I started the truck up again and it was a if nothing ever happened.
What in the actual F, did I just go through?!!!

If you open the engine bay there's several cables that open and close the throttle. I would start with the throttle body. You can key on the truck without starting it and see if maybe the cruise control is shorted pulling the throttle open.

Might check the TPS too. But then again, I suggest that for anything RPM related. Ha!

Thank you for the suggestions. I check everything out and it all seems to be as it should. The tps I changed out a couple years ago. Not sure it would completely fail in that amount of time.

Focusing on the restart, so you were stationary and parked when the RPMs shot up that time?

Yeah, after I shut it off and got to the right side of the rode, i restarted it, the RPMs shut right back up to red.

    Just for a (terrible) visual
The ebrake cable sleeve was underneath, pinched in that U shaped part of the spring that's attached to the accelerator pedal
