2000 Tacoma Prerunner 3.4L

I am tired of all the problems with after market cats and converting my 2000 3.4 PreRunner back to stock cats. One of the cats is discontinued and not made any more. Can I just get the other and have a muffler shop splice it into the pipe? I"m assuming the cats are both the same, and the dif is just the pipe shape? Is that right? Alternatives? jeff
