Forgive me, I’ve read so many threads in this but no one has the set up I’m running. Currently have the OME HD 660. These were great with my older set up. (Ikamper, rack, decked, tire, etc.) I now have a GFC with minimal camp gear. Doesn’t anyone run the medium load? Or recommend a different leaf pack? TYIA

    can’t say I have OME
I heard they have Dakar that everyone says to avoid so I got Icon

icon says lift in op3 drops to 1.75” loaded
    which I am sometimes
Figured keep it there. If my front is 2” max.
    So far it works.

only issue I’ve heard was from the previous owner basically went from a camper to putting near a whole entire house on the back of his truck and said the RXT no longer cut it for that much more weight so he switched to something from Deaver specifically configured for that. Which costs more.

Deaver U402 stage III's here, rated 700-1000 lbs per pair.

I currently have about +400 lbs of permanently-affixed gear on back (utility cap, tools, spare tire, lumber rack). There's no question that with only 400 lbs the rear is bouncy as hell & the shocks don't get to do their damping job because the leaf springs barely flex.

I throw another +350-400 lbs of steel ballast in back to get a comfortable ride.

Point being, be sure whatever springs you choose are rated for your approximate normal bed weight. Try to avoid being oversprung or undersprung.

Ive heard good things about ICON but want to make sure they achieve enough lift. The 1.25 doesnt seem like a lot, especially for the random times I haul more than usual weight.

Yeah I used to be super heavy, now im light with the occasional heavy haul for house things. Considering just a step down in leaf pack range to see where that gets me. Seems every GFC guy out there is pushing super heavy loads so they all go with Deaver 3.

I've got OME Mediums and Firestone airbags with the A/T Habitat. The performance of the OME springs has always been mixed and honestly, I wouldn't think to run them without the airbags while moderately loaded (I'm a backpacker/moto tourer so tend to pack lighter for a weekend of camping than a lot of other setups I've seen). Airbags are nice for their load adjustability but they do limit up-travel but either way, after 7 years of use, feel there are likely better choices out there for the money than OME Dakar's.

I had ome medium pack for years before changing to a simple add a leaf. Ome medium was stiff af and uncomfortable. Unless you have 200+ pounds back there all the time I would go with something softer.

People have a very wild imagination trying to guess what things weigh.

    Stop it.

Load up your truck, then go weigh it. Drive to a CAT scale and get the actual weights per axle of your truck, then you can accurately determine which springs you need.
