Pardon if it’s here somewhere but I ain’t found it when searching. Will a camper shell off 2004 double cab for my 1996 regular cab?

I know there is an angle difference at the back of extra cab and the regular cab. Extra cab cover will rub reg cab etc. Is it the same on a double cab?

Am told reg cab and extra cab have same dimensions for camper shell fitment, I measure 76.5x60”. Is double cab the same?

Define “fit”… you can make it work, but it won’t match up to the Tacoma body lines well.

There’s also a difference between the cheaper made metal skin boxy shells vs form fitted to a specific truck fiberglass style.

This one is a fiberglass. Been searching Facebook marketplace and having zero luck on a reg cab Tacoma shell. Can find extra cab shells but the angle at cab won’t fit. There was a link to an article somewhere on here about camper shell fitment but dang if I can find it now.

That looks great! I'm in Upstate SC too, it took me months to find a shell for my Xtra Cab but I finally did. I should have done the facebook route, I just couldn't bring myself to join. Great price also, congrats.

Trying to wire in third brake light. Thought I could tap at trailer light plug. Seems I don’t know what I am doing. Any help with that task or is it not possible. Have a white-ground, yellow-left
turn, green-right turn, brown-running lights? What do I need to hook to? Tried them all for hots with ground hooked to white but no dice.

Just a two wire system on this old cover for third brake light and a 4 wire system on truck. Third brake light works, put 12v on otw from battery.

Thanks for any help and sorry if I am overlooking this info somewhere posted already. Searched but came up short.

I tried that and both the third brake light on the camper cover and the drivers side brake light were dim, passenger normal brightness. Also got a tone from the truck with the drivers side door open while pressing the pedal.

Checked my Haynes manual for wiring diagram and seems I didn't tap correctly with the first attempt. You'd think I'd have learned to do stuff like that first by now. Thanks

Finally. I sure made that simple task complicated and hard. Thanks for trying to help.

My first ride was a ‘72 C-10. 3 on the column and a clutch made for a man. Power nothing.
