What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Finally swapped out the blue LEDs for amber & wired/installed the USB port.

 

noticed steering wheel a bit crooked after a hit wheeling
Not by much
Can’t tell if it’s been that way, happened from the hit (blew my bumpstop)
or resulted from swapping to HD springs and moving LF 6112 1 clip higher per instructions for taco lean

truck has some reinforcements but not everything

alignment shop said could just be tie rod out of whack need a little adjustment

Knock on wood hopefully it’s just that straighten the toe and call it a day.

If a bushing is wrecked that’ll go before metal bends and be easier to find so I’ll check that. And compare left to right.

Would be hard to see though. Unlike a sedan eating a curb with aluminum arms and taking out a bearing very easy to see.

fingers crossed it’s nothing more than a blown bumpstop and tie rod being off a thread or turn on the nut.

 

Not bad for $73 shipped from Ebay. It has the same part numbers, looks exactly like the Dobinson and Safari snorkels (minus the company name). All the parts are identical to my buddy's dobison and Safari snorkels as well as from the install videos of both of them.

 

Installed fox 2.5 along with camburg uca, new cv axles on both sides along with the ecgs bushing. Thank you old heads for posting your experiences. Made install so much easier

Took all the fluids from my coolant / trans flush to oreilly’s … damn if they don’t take coolant anymore!! So have to make an appt with the city for collection.

Finally found a 6’ bed topper for my 09…. Had to drive almost three hours up to Franconia Notch White Mountains NH to get it, but I am so glad I waited for the a cap that was made for a gen 2. Its an ARE CX series, carpeted interior, roof rack and wired for lights. The color is Silver Effect - so I’m in for a bit of work sanding/priming and painting if I want it to look right with my 1G3 Magnetic Grey Metalic. Plan on using Raptor bed liner.

Question: Go with Black or Basalt Grey (very close to the 1G3)…?

 

it’s getting more difficult to dispose of anything other than motor oil. Luckily my city takes coolant, for the brake fluid I’m using the kiddy litter evaporation method.

I’ve used that method too for small fluids. Good thing I have two cats hanging around, haha.

 

I just bought the same cap used, also silver. My truck is desert mica (goldish tan) so there's a noticeable contrast between the two colors, I ended up getting it painted same as the truck. Considered black raptor liner, imo black is the only surefire color that I could live with outside the truck's color that I knew would look well. I'm too chicken to try out another contrasting color that may or may not look good with the OE paint job. Black would fit that bill for me and probably look great with my truck color but after giving it a lot of thought I elected to go with the factory color. I didn't want to find out how hot a black colored topper would get in the summer sun here in the desert but after the last couple years of 105 temps I elected the somewhat safer route. I sometimes carry stuff that wouldn't do well inside a really hot topper. The OE color might not be much better then black but I know it won't be worse.

What did you use?

 

Replaced all the small bulbs in the dash (fog lamp switch, hazard switch, etc.) with LED's. Did not do the PRNDL bulb.

Partially took apart the fuse box to see what thread the screw was that holds the large fuses (120A, 100A). It's 6x1.0 and about 10mm long.

 

Is the 3D printed part still held with double sided tape?
