7k trailer? I wouldn’t do it. You’re going to see single digit gas mileage as well as probably be over legal towing weight.

    Google is your friend.

The entry-level trim of the Toyota Tacoma can tow up to 3,500 pounds, but when properly equipped with a towing package, it can tow up to 6,400 pounds. Between the Toyota Tacoma tow package and engine, this top-rated pickup truck can tow up to 6,800 pounds or carry a payload of up to 1,440 pounds.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

Lots of information to be found on the forum, start here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/towing.34/

IMO: While the truck may move the trailer from place to place it will be a miserable, stressful, uncomfortable & fuel sucking drive.

The Tacoma is more suitable (less bad really) for towing in the 4-5K range.

No, you can't tow that trailer safely. Your truck likely has a payload right about 1000lbs (located on the white/yellow sticker on the driver's door jam). That trailer will have a tongue weight over 750lbs when loaded. If it's just you and the trailer you could get away with it within legal limits but you'd hate every minute of the drive and not really be in control of the trailer outside of ideal conditions.

You Ben looking in the wrong spots, that trailer is way too big. Hell, I wouldn't want to pull that trailer in a full size 1/2 ton on long trips to the mountains.

A couple more often looked things to consider when looking for a smaller trailer and/or a larger truck.
    1. What type of terrain and situation? Are you towing in the mountains? How far? Are you retirees with nothing but time, or do you have to jet kids out Friday evening and need to have them back for bed Sunday night?
    2. areo- there are lighter trailers, but the larger TT's have copious amounts of drag behind the smaller weaker Tacoma.
