I thought this thread might be helpful for cheapskates like me on a budget. I recently got an OEM tonneau off Marketplace for $100 and of course it did not include the mounting hardware. After shopping around online and looking at Toyota dealerships for the hardware it became clear it was going to cost well over $200 to get all the parts needed to mount the tonneau. After rummaging through my nuts and bolts and random parts bins I came up with a comparatively cheap solution to the high cost of the OEM hardware. Pictures below will show all the parts of the process. I came across a spare bed wheel caster in my random parts bins and realized it would be the perfect strength to facilitate the replacement for the 5 side striker pins, I needed several more and ordered them online through Amazon for $13. I then grinded the wheel off of each one and drilled the corresponding holes for the base to align with the threaded inserts in the bed. (See picture with wheel and picture with wheel and cut off mounting striker plate). You will need 14 - M6 x 25mm bolts to mount these to the bed. Oh, also near the base of the striker pins itself it was fluted and somewhat wider, I dremeled these to be the same diameter throughout. For the alignment piece that goes under the rear sliding glass in the middle of the top part of the bed, I found a curved Ikea curtain mount part (part # is listed in picture) that fit perfectly into the alignment section of the tonneau (I realize this piece may not be easy to acquire so you might have to be creative with something else.) I then centered it on a piece of solid plastic (this part doesn't need to be particularly stout as it's mostly for alignment purposes and stock one is also plastic) and positioned it squarely on the corresponding section of the tonneau from underneath to ensure it was centered before mounting it. for the tonneau retention bolt I used a piece of angle iron that mounts to the furthest forward threading on the passenger side of the vehicle. I haven't yet welded a bolt to the bottom but simply have a nut that I held in place while passing a bolt through from above to hold it fast. I used one side adhesive dense black 3" wide foam to go between the bed and the tonneau on the side rails, because, as of now, I don't want to cut my bed rails. I'm sure I'm leaving some info out, or making parts of this confusing, but reach out if you have any questions. I hope you find this helpful if you're in need of OEM tonneau hardware. Cheers!
