Had questions about the carbon canister and vacuum lines ran to the Power Steering pump. I live in a state / county that has no emissions requirements for inspections, only safety.

Carbon Canister: Any one have luck removing it without CEL? Been reading through related posts for the Carbon Canister removal and it seems not a plausible thing to do unless you're ok with the CEL on permanently. The truck was sitting for 10 years before I picked it up about a month ago. It's running well now. I"ve had sever trucks from the 80's and was able to pull them with little effort beyond plugging lines and making sure vent hoses were good. The relay on the carbon canister made me stop and do some reading first.

Vacuum lines on Power Steeing pump: There are two vacuum lines that run from the top of the throttle body (iirc) to some device connected to the power steering pump where the fluid routes to the power steering assembly (?). One of the nipples on that broke off. I plugged it and the hose that was routed to it. Engine still runs and it still steers ok. What will happen if I remove all the vacuum and clean up the million hoses in the engine bay more?
