Denso 4705 versus 3419 Spark Plugs

Tacoma manual calls for 3419 (0.031 gap) plugs, but people seem to have luck with the Denso 4705s (which have a different gap). Anyone have any experience with 4705s? AAP says the 4705s are an exact fit to my 21 Tacoma SR, so would it be a problem?

Where did you get the 3419 and 4705 numbers?

 

No I have a V6 4WD. 3419 is what the manual calls for, but 4705 seems to be used by a lot of 3rd gen owners.

Yeah that's what I meant, just a typo. Anyway, im asking if anyone has experience using 4705s instead.

 

Communicated with Denso, they indicated the 4705 is the newer style twin tio design wider gap for larger combustion. According to them the newer

$25 IKBH20TT Denso Spark Plug Iridium TT - 4705

IKBH20TT is more improved proving over 100K of usage.

 

Interesting, so no need to adjust gap or anything from 0.4 to 0.3? They're good to go right out of the box?

 

Some trucks don’t like those plugs with the .039” gap vs the .032”. The 4.0l engines had this issue with the iridium plugs. Mine wouldn’t idle as well.

I plan to stick with the factory platinum plugs

 

Suggest you install what Toyota would.

I've been running the twin tips for about 70'000kms and truck runs just the same as with the long life's. Maybe marginally rougher but no change in fuel economy or power. I'll try long lives again next time
