Where is my transfer case actuator!?

Okay I’m not extremely mechanically inclined but I’m having issues with my 4WD and was under the impression it is my actuator that’s faulty and not the entire transfer case. When I got underneath to check I realized there is literally no actuator on my TC. There is clearly a spot for it but it’s just not there. I’m curious if automatic transmissions don’t have them and they are only applicable to manual vehicles.

Do you have a 4WD shifter in the truck?
Not a switch, but an actual shifter.
Because that looks like the J-Shift transfer case to me.

P.S. The J-Shift is better.

 

‍HAHAH I just realized that. Yes I do have J-shift
So then if that’s the case, where would I look for the problem of being stuck in 4WD? There is another actuator on the front diff, is that the only place? Or is there a chance it’s in the TC itself?

 

Doubt there's a tcase issue.

Most likely the ADD actuator on the front diff.

 

Is it actually in 4wd or is the light just on?

 

That’s what I was thinking. Is that an easy job to do at home? Or am I better off taking it in to a pro?

 

The light is always on, although I do notice that it halfway goes out of 4WD when I switch to H2 but the wheels still spin when on jack stands.
