Hello! As you can probably see I am new here, I signed up because I had an issue where I purchased a OEM bed cover off marketplace that did not have the hardware to go with it. It only had the little plastic piece that goes in the middle of the bed frame with the two screws to align the cover when putting it on, and the big silver bolt for the 6th bracket in the top right. I searched here and plenty of other places for a solution and the only one I could find was to purchase direct from Toyota. As you can probably see if you’re looking on your own they’re rather expensive, pretty much $200 for the set. If you’re into DIY’ing life, I’ve found a solution today at my local Home Depot. This is made with a “Everbilt Broad Utility Hinge (Removable Pin) Galvanized Superior Rust Resistant 2-1/2 inch”. The left and right holes in the hinge align perfect with the mounting holes on the frame of the bed. What I did was is fold the rounded parts inwards to make it more of an L shape and it fits perfect between the side rail and the mounting holes. I’m still looking for the right size mounting screws for the frame of the Tacoma, I read they were M6 x 1.0 but they didn’t seem to fit maybe a different tread than what I got. The ones I really wanted with the star bit were not in stock so I went with the phillips head ones. I will be updating the thread as I modify them more this was literally one stop to Home Depot, I plan to plastidip them to blend it all in, cut off the rounded parts where the bracket pin slides into, and modify the bracket pin to use as the striker, and obviously as mentioned earlier find the right size mounting bolts. All and all, this should be able to make 5 brackets for $45-50 total that (eventually) will look very close to OEM instead of $30 each bracket (including cost for OEM mounting screws). This doesn’t include the cost for the 6th bracket for the top right that actually holds this to the bed itself to keep it from moving, which I will most likely end up purchasing from Toyota since I already have the bolt and can’t really think up a solution for that one that would be safe enough, this solution is to save money on parts, and to be able to lock the panels in place. Let me know what yall think! Image 1 is what I made Image 2 is the part itself.
