It's painful but I would try to source an oem one as aftermarket ones sometimes don't convert enough to satisfy the monitoring system.

of course verify you need a cat by monitoring up and downstream O2 sensors. If they match in pattern the cats are bad but, tbh this is one of the few codes you can blindly and reliable trust to tell you exactly the problem.

Just make sure you aren't burning lots of oil, coolant or excess fuelling or those issues will toast a new cat aswell

I would check for an exhaust leak prior to replacing the catalytic converters. An exhaust leak gave me a 420 code and that seems to be the most common cause around here.

What engine? Like already stated, could be from exhaust leak, cracks in cast iron exhaust manifold, bad cat gaskets, pipe gaskets, O2 sensor gaskets. 2.4&2.7L engines. My 2.7l has had same listed and got P0420 code as result until addressed. Plenty here to read up on with a simple search. YouTube as well. Shop vac taped to tail pipe blowing air in and soapy water sprayed on joints will help show leaks. Good luck.
