Head unit replacement. All I want is to show my phone screen and interface with my truck correctly.

Any suggestions? I'm picking up my 2015 Tacoma tomorrow and I don't use satellite radio, or watch DVDs in my truck, or have apps for whatever. I just want a head unit that will use android or apple, interface correctly with the rest of my truck (2015 v6 6spd stick, 4wd), and allow me hear the music from my phone over the speakers. It has the Entune unit currently.
I'm a very basic sort of dude. I work with complex systems all day, I just want On/Off, Vol Up/ Vol Down, with good quality.
Ideally something I won't have to install a separate application on my phone to use.
Any suggestions, TacomaWorld?

 

You want Carplay or Android auto compatible radio.

Crutchfield.com is by far the easiest source.

 

I posted elsewhere in this forum on a $150 head unit that works great for me. It shows waze/google maps, has a built-in equalizer, and all in cost less than $200 to install. I can't give you all the details now, because I am in the middle of my annual trip from Florida to Massachusetts, and using the head unit to navigate. Look for my older posts for details.

The head unit is a PLZ 902W. They just released a newer model with a better display for $160.
