    Hi folks,

Looking for some advice on a reasonably priced roof rack for a 2013 DCSB machine with a Leer 100XL camper top.

I need some roof storage for truck camping. Most likely I'll have very light loads while driving (if any) but would like to be able to keep equipment (bikes, bags, etc) on the roof while parked/truck camping. Maybe I'd need a little bit of overflow space if I fill up the back too much, as I like to have the visibility right to the rear window.

    What do folks recommend:
    - racks on the cab and none on the camper-top
    - racks on the camper-top and none on the cab
    - should I consider both?

What are the considerations for getting racks to align front and back, if I go for that?
    Am I better off with a one-piece?

Do people recommend a comprehensive rack or two-rails plus a roof basket?

Has this question been asked a thousand times?

    Cheers,
    James

I got a Sherpa rack because it’s thick strong looks good
Pretty sure at the only time it was the only one using 1/4 while every other rack was 3/16
    high load rating
    better mounting method than Prinsu

unfortunately doesn’t have cool feature like caliraised front quick drop panel to shield lights

camper shell didn’t come with tracks and couldn’t tell if it was reinforced to handle that or not. And rack for shell costs even more like $1k alone

now have a Softopper with rack
That seems like it could even be better. It adds some security. Lighter. Top gear holding. And side gear holding. Which a regular shell rack wouldn’t do and be heavier.
Not permanent. If I win the lottery probably get something like GFC and switch to half cab rack.
