Wait, a Toyota dealer.... and they have a Nissan as a rental? What six-sigma manager level of thinking brought them to that line of action?

I'd also ask for a free extended powertrain warranty at this point, as they're already wrenching and who knows what they will bump and move affecting things down the line...

    minor tweaks
The crimp clamps are also impossible to over torque which is one of the primary causes for a worm clamp to fail. They also don't drag the material being clamped towards the worm assembly like a worm clamp does. Not a huge fan of the spring clamps like what's on the op's truck (I have them also) but they've held fine for many years. They fact that at least two of the OPs clamps are leaking makes me wonder if those weren't heat treated properly and have insufficient tension.

There is a reason all the OEMs use constant tension (spring) clamps. It is because….they maintain constant tension on the hose with temperature changes. In other words, they work and are maintenance free, and are the superior choice. Worm gear clamps can work but as temps fluctuate they will either be too tight or too loose.

If anyone switches to worm gear clamps because they hate dealing with the spring clamps, then they clearly don’t have the proper tool that makes spring clamps easily workable. No, normal pliers aren’t the proper tool. Hose clamp pliers are.

Functionality aside, the worm gear clamps look like cheap garbage in an otherwise clean stock engine compartment.

I don’t know what OP’s issue is but it looks like the hoses aren’t fully over the sealing ribs on the pipe to hose connections. And the clamps aren’t either. But I’m not familiar with the new engine and how the hoses should look alternatively so maybe it’s just the appearance.

Dealer owner probably owns another brand and the service bays share the rental pool. I have seen that before with a mega Dealer with 5 competing brands in the same location.

Haha LOL says the guy that owns a truck where the manufacturer can't even figure out something as simple as cooling hoses.

Oh the horror of sitting behind a Nissan badge.

Thanks for sharing the brochure. Seems like many people jump straight to "lemon law" claims without realizing there needs to be a history of the issue (or issues) before that can take place.

I'd be curious as to the strict definition of the 30 days in the shop, though. Like, does time waiting for the part apply, since they are not actively trying to fix the truck? I'd assume no, but I haven't read the rule and I'm not a lawyer. (The truck is clearly still drivable, too).

30 days without the truck due to a mechanical issue will usually qualify for lemon law in most states. Doesn't matter if it's just the part holding the repair up.

Usually only for serious safety issues. For not getting a new car for a coolant leak.

More responsive? Really because I have owned both. That V6 in the Nissan puts out 310HP and has the 8 speed tranny. Pretty close to the Gen 4 and no turbo lag to deal with. The Nissan did steer a little heavy but not really noticeable after you put some miles on it.

    Lemon Law in CA:

    • The vehicle has been in the shop for more than 30 days (not necessarily in a row) for repair of any problems covered by its warranty. This is called the Lemon Law Presumption
